Jennifer Lawrence plays Maddie, a young woman on a mission to save her mother’s house. After not paying his property taxes, his car is taken away from him, which prevents him from spending the summer in Montauk. She seizes the opportunity to “go out” with a 19-year-old named Percy in exchange for a car.

After a not very brilliant introduction, Maddie and Percy hit it off. Maddie starts taking care of Percy and urges him to show the world how great he is. When Maddie pushes Percy out of her comfort zone, he helps her not to be afraid of change.

No grudge, the only JLaw would not work. The Oscar-winning actor has had a strong rise to fame with the Hunger Games and Silver Linings playbook. Although her filmography is stacked, she has never done a comedy like this before. Jennifer plunges headlong into this wild, hilarious, enveloping role and does not look back. She feels right at home in the comedy world — her comedic timing is great—and it looks like she’s having the time of her life.

Andrew Barth Feldman, who plays Percy, is quite equal to Jennifer. Their chemistry creates a perfect balance in the film. For his film debut, Andrew proves that he is a force to be reckoned with on the big screen. The actor can also show these awesome vocals with a stunning piano cover of Hall & Oates’ song “Maneater” that could make you burst into tears.

It’s about the age difference between Maddie and Percy, with Maddie being 32 and Percy being 19. No Hard Feelings addresses this problematic element and fortunately does not romanticize it.

No Hard Feelings is not a groundbreaking comedy, but that’s exactly what we need right now. The film is one of many films released this summer that prove that you still have fun in the cinema and you don’t have to be a big-budget superhero movie. You will laugh, gasp, and maybe even cry without resentment. So sit back, relax and enjoy Jlaw’s ride.
